Transparent Proxy

What is a transparent proxy?

A transparent proxy, also known as an inline proxy, is a type of server that routes user requests to the internet without any setup required on the user's device. This type of proxy is typically used for content filtering, bandwidth management, and user authentication within a network, such as in corporate or educational environments

How does a transparent proxy work?

A transparent proxy acts as an intermediary that channels user requests to the Internet. It seamlessly intercepts these connections, meaning users don't notice it's there, hence the name "transparent." However, it does not hide the user's IP address or secure their data. Instead, it simply forwards the IP address and other details to the website being accessed. Because it uses older HTTP protocols, this type of proxy may not offer the best protection against third parties accessing user data.
